Alif, Lām, Rā. [This is] a Book whose verses are perfected and then presented in detail from [one who is] Wise and Aware

2
أَلَّاThat "Not
تَعْبُدُوٓا۟you worship
إِلَّاbut
ٱللَّهَ ۚAllah
إِنَّنِىIndeed, I am
لَكُمto you
مِّنْهُfrom Him
نَذِيرٌۭa warner
وَبَشِيرٌۭand a bearer of glad tidings
2

[Through a messenger, saying], "Do not worship except Allāh. Indeed, I am to you from Him a warner and a bringer of good tidings,"

3
وَأَنِAnd that
ٱسْتَغْفِرُوا۟Seek forgiveness
رَبَّكُمْ(of) your Lord
ثُمَّand
تُوبُوٓا۟turn in repentance
إِلَيْهِto Him
يُمَتِّعْكُمHe will let you
مَّتَـٰعًاenjoy
حَسَنًاa good
إِلَىٰٓfor
أَجَلٍۢa term
مُّسَمًّۭىappointed
وَيُؤْتِAnd give
كُلَّ(to) every
ذِىowner
فَضْلٍۢ(of) grace
فَضْلَهُۥ ۖHis Grace
وَإِنBut if
تَوَلَّوْا۟you turn away
فَإِنِّىٓthen indeed, I
أَخَافُfear
عَلَيْكُمْfor you
عَذَابَ(the) punishment
يَوْمٍۢ كَبِيرٍ(of) a Great Day
3

And [saying], "Seek forgiveness of your Lord and repent to Him, [and] He will let you enjoy a good provision for a specified term and give every doer of favor his favor [i.e., reward]. But if you turn away, then indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a great Day.

4
إِلَىTo
ٱللَّهِAllah
مَرْجِعُكُمْ ۖ(is) your return
وَهُوَand He
عَلَىٰ(is) on
كُلِّevery
شَىْءٍۢthing
قَدِيرٌAll-Powerful
4

To Allāh is your return, and He is over all things competent."

5
أَلَآNo doubt
إِنَّهُمْThey
يَثْنُونَfold up
صُدُورَهُمْtheir breasts
لِيَسْتَخْفُوا۟that they may hide
مِنْهُ ۚfrom Him
أَلَاSurely
حِينَwhen
يَسْتَغْشُونَthey cover (themselves)
ثِيَابَهُمْ(with) their garments
يَعْلَمُHe knows
مَاwhat
يُسِرُّونَthey conceal
وَمَاand what
يُعْلِنُونَ ۚthey reveal
إِنَّهُۥIndeed, He
عَلِيمٌۢ(is) All-Knower
بِذَاتِof what
ٱلصُّدُورِ(is in) the breasts
5

Unquestionably, they [i.e., the disbelievers] turn away their breasts to hide themselves from him. Unquestionably, [even] when they cover themselves in their clothing, He [i.e., Allāh] knows what they conceal and what they declare. Indeed, He is Knowing of that within the breasts.

6
۞ وَمَاAnd not
مِنany
دَآبَّةٍۢmoving creature
فِىin
ٱلْأَرْضِthe earth
إِلَّاbut
عَلَىon
ٱللَّهِAllah
رِزْقُهَا(is) its provision
وَيَعْلَمُAnd He knows
مُسْتَقَرَّهَاits dwelling place
وَمُسْتَوْدَعَهَا ۚand its place of storage
كُلٌّۭAll
فِى(is) in
كِتَـٰبٍۢa Record
مُّبِينٍۢclear
6

And there is no creature on earth but that upon Allāh is its provision, and He knows its place of dwelling and place of storage. All is in a clear register.

7
وَهُوَAnd He
ٱلَّذِى(is) the One Who
خَلَقَcreated
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِthe heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضَand the earth
فِىin
سِتَّةِsix
أَيَّامٍۢepochs
وَكَانَ عَرْشُهُۥand His throne was
عَلَىon
ٱلْمَآءِthe water
لِيَبْلُوَكُمْthat He might test [you]
أَيُّكُمْwhich of you
أَحْسَنُ(is) best
عَمَلًۭا ۗ(in) deed
وَلَئِنBut if
قُلْتَyou say
إِنَّكُمIndeed, you
مَّبْعُوثُونَ(will be) resurrected
مِنۢ بَعْدِafter
ٱلْمَوْتِ[the] death
لَيَقُولَنَّsurely would say
ٱلَّذِينَthose who
كَفَرُوٓا۟disbelieved
إِنْ هَـٰذَآThis is not
إِلَّاbut
سِحْرٌۭa magic
مُّبِينٌۭclear
7

And it is He who created the heavens and the earth in six days - and His Throne had been upon water - that He might test you as to which of you is best in deed. But if you say, "Indeed, you are resurrected after death," those who disbelieve will surely say, "This is not but obvious magic."

8
وَلَئِنْAnd if
أَخَّرْنَاWe delay
عَنْهُمُfrom them
ٱلْعَذَابَthe punishment
إِلَىٰٓfor
أُمَّةٍۢa time
مَّعْدُودَةٍۢdetermined
لَّيَقُولُنَّthey will surely say
مَاWhat
يَحْبِسُهُۥٓ ۗdetains it
أَلَاNo doubt
يَوْمَ(On) the Day
يَأْتِيهِمْit comes to them
لَيْسَnot
مَصْرُوفًا(will be) averted
عَنْهُمْfrom them
وَحَاقَand will surround
بِهِمthem
مَّاwhat
كَانُوا۟they used (to)
بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَmock at [it]
8

And if We hold back from them the punishment for a limited time, they will surely say, "What detains it?" Unquestionably, on the Day it comes to them, it will not be averted from them, and they will be enveloped by what they used to ridicule.

9
وَلَئِنْAnd if
أَذَقْنَاWe give man a taste
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ(of) Mercy from Us
مِنَّاthen
رَحْمَةً ثُمَّWe withdraw it
نَزَعْنَـٰهَاfrom him
مِنْهُindeed, he
إِنَّهُۥ(is) despairing
لَيَــُٔوسٌ كَفُورٌ(and) ungrateful
٩

And if We give man a taste of mercy from Us and then We withdraw it from him, indeed, he is despairing and ungrateful.

10
وَلَئِنْBut if
أَذَقْنَـٰهُWe give him a taste
نَعْمَآءَ(of) favor
بَعْدَafter
ضَرَّآءَhardship
مَسَّتْهُ(has) touched him
لَيَقُولَنَّsurely, he will say
ذَهَبَHave gone
ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتُthe evils
عَنِّىٓ ۚfrom me
إِنَّهُۥIndeed, he
لَفَرِحٌۭ(is) exultant
فَخُورٌ(and) boastful
10

But if We give him a taste of favor after hardship has touched him, he will surely say, "Bad times have left me." Indeed, he is exultant and boastful -

11
إِلَّاExcept
ٱلَّذِينَthose who
صَبَرُوا۟(are) patient
وَعَمِلُوا۟and do
ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِthe good deeds
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَthose
لَهُمfor them
مَّغْفِرَةٌۭ(will be) forgiveness
وَأَجْرٌۭand a reward
كَبِيرٌۭgreat
11

Except for those who are patient and do righteous deeds; those will have forgiveness and great reward.

12
فَلَعَلَّكَThen possibly you
تَارِكٌۢ(may) give up
بَعْضَa part
مَا(of) what
يُوحَىٰٓis revealed
إِلَيْكَto you
وَضَآئِقٌۢand straitened
بِهِۦby it
صَدْرُكَyour breast
أَنbecause
يَقُولُوا۟they say
لَوْلَآWhy not
أُنزِلَis sent down
عَلَيْهِfor him
كَنزٌa treasure
أَوْor
جَآءَhas come
مَعَهُۥwith him
مَلَكٌ ۚan Angel
إِنَّمَآOnly
أَنتَyou
نَذِيرٌۭ ۚ(are) a warner
وَٱللَّهُAnd Allah
عَلَىٰ(is) on
كُلِّevery
شَىْءٍۢthing
وَكِيلٌa Guardian
12

Then would you possibly leave [out] some of what is revealed to you, or is your breast constrained by it because they say, "Why has there not been sent down to him a treasure or come with him an angel?" But you are only a warner. And Allāh is Disposer of all things.

13
أَمْOr
يَقُولُونَthey say
افْتَرَاهُ ۖHe has fabricated it
قُلْSay
فَأْتُوا۟Then bring
بِعَشْرِten
سُوَرٍۢSurahs
مِّثْلِهِۦlike it
مُفْتَرَيَـٰتٍۢfabricated
وَٱدْعُوا۟and call
مَنِwhoever
ٱسْتَطَعْتُمyou can
مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِbesides Allah
إِنif
كُنتُمْyou are
صَـٰدِقِينَtruthful
13

Or do they say, "He invented it"? Say, "Then bring ten sūrahs like it that have been invented and call upon [for assistance] whomever you can besides Allāh, if you should be truthful."

14
فَإِلَّمْThen if not
يَسْتَجِيبُوا۟they respond
لَكُمْto you
فَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟then know
أَنَّمَآthat
أُنزِلَit was sent down
بِعِلْمِ ٱللَّهِwith the knowledge of Allah
وَأَنand that
لَّآ(there is) no
إِلَـٰهَgod
إِلَّاexcept
هُوَ ۖHim
فَهَلْThen, would
أَنتُمyou
مُّسْلِمُونَ(be) Muslims
14

And if they do not respond to you - then know that it [i.e., the Qur’ān] was revealed with the knowledge of Allāh and that there is no deity except Him. Then, would you [not] be Muslims?

15
مَن كَانَWhoever [is]
يُرِيدُdesires
ٱلْحَيَوٰةَthe life
ٱلدُّنْيَا(of) the world
وَزِينَتَهَاand its adornments
نُوَفِّWe will repay in full
إِلَيْهِمْto them
أَعْمَـٰلَهُمْ(for) their deeds
فِيهَاtherein
وَهُمْand they
فِيهَاin it
لَا يُبْخَسُونَwill not be lessened
15

Whoever desires the life of this world and its adornments - We fully repay them for their deeds therein, and they therein will not be deprived.

16
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَThose
ٱلَّذِينَ(are) the ones who
لَيْسَ(is) not
لَهُمْfor them
فِىin
ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِthe Hereafter
إِلَّاexcept
ٱلنَّارُ ۖthe Fire
وَحَبِطَAnd (has) gone in vain
مَاwhat
صَنَعُوا۟they did
فِيهَاtherein
وَبَـٰطِلٌۭand (is) worthless
مَّاwhat
كَانُوا۟they used (to)
يَعْمَلُونَdo
16

Those are the ones for whom there is not in the Hereafter but the Fire. And lost is what they did therein, and worthless is what they used to do.

17
أَفَمَنThen is he who
كَانَis
عَلَىٰon
بَيِّنَةٍۢa clear proof
مِّنfrom
رَّبِّهِۦhis Lord
وَيَتْلُوهُand recites it
شَاهِدٌۭa witness
مِّنْهُfrom Him
وَمِن قَبْلِهِۦand before it
كِتَـٰبُ(was) a Book
مُوسَىٰٓ(of) Musa
إِمَامًۭا(as) a guide
وَرَحْمَةً ۚand (as) mercy
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَThose
يُؤْمِنُونَbelieve
بِهِۦ ۚin it
وَمَنBut whoever
يَكْفُرْdisbelieves
بِهِۦin it
مِنَamong
ٱلْأَحْزَابِthe sects
فَٱلنَّارُthen the Fire
مَوْعِدُهُۥ ۚ(will be) his promised (meeting) place
فَلَاSo (do) not
تَكُbe
فِىin
مِرْيَةٍۢdoubt
مِّنْهُ ۚabout it
إِنَّهُIndeed, it
ٱلْحَقُّ(is) the truth
مِنfrom
رَّبِّكَyour Lord
وَلَـٰكِنَّbut
أَكْثَرَmost
ٱلنَّاسِ(of) the people
لَا(do) not
يُؤْمِنُونَbelieve
17

So is one who [stands] upon a clear evidence from his Lord [like the aforementioned]? And a witness from Him follows it, and before it was the Scripture of Moses to lead and as mercy. Those [believers in the former revelations] believe in it [i.e., the Qur’ān]. But whoever disbelieves in it from the [various] factions - the Fire is his promised destination. So be not in doubt about it. Indeed, it is the truth from your Lord, but most of the people do not believe.

18
وَمَنْAnd who
أَظْلَمُ(is) more unjust
مِمَّنِthan (he) who
ٱفْتَرَىٰinvents
عَلَىagainst
ٱللَّهِAllah
كَذِبًا ۚa lie
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَThose
يُعْرَضُونَwill be presented
عَلَىٰbefore
رَبِّهِمْtheir Lord
وَيَقُولُand will say
ٱلْأَشْهَـٰدُthe witnesses
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِThese (are)
ٱلَّذِينَthose who
كَذَبُوا۟lied
عَلَىٰagainst
رَبِّهِمْ ۚtheir Lord
أَلَاNo doubt
لَعْنَةُ ٱللَّهِ(The) curse of Allah
عَلَى(is) on
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَthe wrongdoers
18

And who is more unjust than he who invents a lie about Allāh? Those will be presented before their Lord, and the witnesses will say, "These are the ones who lied against their Lord." Unquestionably, the curse of Allāh is upon the wrongdoers.

19
ٱلَّذِينَThose who
يَصُدُّونَhinder
عَنfrom
سَبِيلِ(the) way
ٱللَّهِ(of) Allah
وَيَبْغُونَهَاand seek (in) it
عِوَجًۭاcrookedness
وَهُمwhile they
بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِin the Hereafter
هُمْ[they]
كَـٰفِرُونَ(are) disbelievers
19

Who averted [people] from the way of Allāh and sought to make it [seem] deviant while they, concerning the Hereafter, were disbelievers.

20
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَThose
لَمْnot
يَكُونُوا۟will be
مُعْجِزِينَ(able to) escape
فِىin
ٱلْأَرْضِthe earth
وَمَاand not
كَانَis
لَهُمfor them
مِّن دُونِbesides
ٱللَّهِAllah
مِنْany
أَوْلِيَآءَ ۘprotectors
يُضَـٰعَفُAnd will be doubled
لَهُمُfor them
ٱلْعَذَابُ ۚthe punishment
مَاNot
كَانُوا۟they were
يَسْتَطِيعُونَable
ٱلسَّمْعَ(to) hear
وَمَاand not
كَانُوا۟they used (to)
يُبْصِرُونَsee
20

Those were not causing failure [to Allāh] on earth, nor did they have besides Allāh any protectors. For them the punishment will be multiplied. They were not able to hear, nor did they see.

21
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَThose
ٱلَّذِينَ(are) the ones who
خَسِرُوٓا۟(have) lost
أَنفُسَهُمْtheir souls
وَضَلَّand lost
عَنْهُمfrom them
مَّا(is) what
كَانُوا۟they used
يَفْتَرُونَ(to) invent
21

Those are the ones who will have lost themselves, and lost from them is what they used to invent.

22
لَاNo
جَرَمَdoubt
أَنَّهُمْthat they
فِىin
ٱلْأَخِرَةِthe Hereafter
هُمُ[they]
ٱلْأَخْسَرُونَ(will be) the greatest losers
٢٢

Assuredly, it is they in the Hereafter who will be the greatest losers.

23
إِنَّIndeed
ٱلَّذِينَthose who
ءَامَنُواْbelieve
وَعَمِلُواْand do
ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِgood deeds
وَأَخْبَتُوٓاْand humble themselves
إِلَىٰbefore
رَبِّهِمْtheir Lord
أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَthose
أَصْحَـٰبُ(are the) companions
ٱلْجَنَّةِ‌ۖ(of) Paradise
هُمْthey
فِيهَاin it
خَـٰلِدُونَ(will) abide forever
٢٣

Indeed, they who have believed and done righteous deeds and humbled themselves to their Lord - those are the companions of Paradise; they will abide eternally therein.

24
۞ مَثَلُ(The) example
ٱلْفَرِيقَيْنِ(of) the two parties
كَٱلْأَعْمَىٰ(is) like the blind
وَٱلْأَصَمِّand the deaf
وَٱلْبَصِيرِand the seer
وَٱلسَّمِيعِ ۚand the hearer
هَلْAre
يَسْتَوِيَانِthey equal
مَثَلًا ۚ(in) comparison
أَفَلَاThen, will not
تَذَكَّرُونَyou take heed
24

The example of the two parties is like the blind and deaf, and the seeing and hearing. Are they equal in comparison? Then, will you not remember?

25
وَلَقَدْAnd verily
أَرْسَلْنَاWe sent
نُوحًاNuh
إِلَىٰto
قَوْمِهِۦٓhis people
إِنِّىIndeed, I am
لَكُمْto you
نَذِيرٌۭa warner

And We had certainly sent Noah to his people, [saying], "Indeed, I am to you a clear warner
