The Morning Star

الطارق

Argues that just as man was brought into being from nothing, he will surely be raised again, affirming that the Quran itself is a decisive word that no scheme can defeat.

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

وَٱلسَّمَآءِBy the sky
وَٱلطَّارِقِand the night comer
١

By the sky and the night comer

2
وَمَآAnd what
أَدْرَٮٰكَcan make you know
مَاwhat
ٱلطَّارِقُthe night comer (is)
٢

And what can make you know what is the night comer?

3
ٱلنَّجْمُ(It is) the star
ٱلثَّاقِبُthe piercing
٣

It is the piercing star

4
إِنNot
كُلُّ(is) every
نَفْسٍۢsoul
لَّمَّاbut
عَلَيْهَاover it
حَافِظٌۭ(is) a protector

There is no soul but that it has over it a protector.

5
فَلْيَنظُرِSo let see
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُman
مِمَّfrom what
خُلِقَhe is created
٥

So let man observe from what he was created.

خُلِقَHe is created
مِنfrom
مَّآءٍۢa water
دَافِقٍۢejected
6

He was created from a fluid, ejected,

7
يَخْرُجُComing forth
مِنۢfrom
بَيْنِbetween
ٱلصُّلْبِthe backbone
وَٱلتَّرَآئِبِand the ribs
7

Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs.

8
إِنَّهُۥIndeed, He
عَلَىٰto
رَجْعِهِۦreturn him
لَقَادِرٌ(is) Able
٨

Indeed, He [i.e., Allāh], to return him [to life], is Able.

9
يَوْمَ(The) Day
تُبْلَىwill be tested
ٱلسَّرَآئِرُthe secrets
٩

The Day when secrets will be put on trial,

10
فَمَاThen not
لَهُۥ(is) for him
مِنany
قُوَّةٍۢpower
وَلَاand not
نَاصِرٍۢany helper

Then he [i.e., man] will have no power or any helper.

11
وَٱلسَّمَآءِBy the sky
ذَاتِwhich
ٱلرَّجْعِreturns
١١

By the sky which sends back

12
وَٱلْأَرْضِAnd the earth
ذَاتِwhich
ٱلصَّدْعِcracks open
١٢

And [by] the earth which splits,

13
إِنَّهُۥIndeed, it
لَقَوْلٌۭ(is) surely a Word
فَصْلٌۭdecisive
13

Indeed, it [i.e., the Qur’ān] is a decisive statement,

14
وَمَاAnd not
هُوَit
بِٱلْهَزْلِ(is) for amusement
١٤

And it is not amusement.

15
إِنَّهُمْIndeed, they
يَكِيدُونَare plotting
كَيْدًاa plot
١٥

Indeed, they are planning a plan,

16
وَأَكِيدُBut I am planning
كَيْدًاa plan
١٦

But I am planning a plan.

17
فَمَهِّلِSo give respite
ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ(to) the disbelievers
أَمْهِلْهُمْGive respite to them
رُوَيْدَۢاlittle
١٧

So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile.
