The Calamity
القارعةDepicts the sudden and overwhelming nature of the Resurrection, when people will scatter like moths and the mountains will be reduced to carded wool.

ٱلْقَارِعَةُThe Striking Calamity

The Striking Calamity -

مَاWhat
ٱلْقَارِعَةُ(is) the Striking Calamity
٢
What is the Striking Calamity?
3
وَمَآAnd what
أَدْرَٮٰكَwill make you know
مَاwhat
ٱلْقَارِعَةُ(is) the Striking Calamity
٣
And what can make you know what is the Striking Calamity?
4
يَوْمَ(The) Day
يَكُونُwill be
ٱلنَّاسُthe mankind
كَٱلْفَرَاشِlike moths
ٱلْمَبْثُوثِscattered
٤
It is the Day when people will be like moths, dispersed,
5
وَتَكُونُAnd will be
ٱلْجِبَالُthe mountains
كَٱلْعِهْنِlike wool
ٱلْمَنفُوشِfluffed up
٥
And the mountains will be like wool, fluffed up.
6
فَأَمَّاThen as for
مَن(him) whose
ثَقُلَتْ(are) heavy
مَوَٰزِينُهُۥhis scales

Then as for one whose scales are heavy [with good deeds],
7
فَهُوَThen he
فِى(will be) in
عِيشَةٍۢa life
رَّاضِيَةٍۢpleasant
7
He will be in a pleasant life.
8
وَأَمَّاBut as for
مَنْ(him) whose
خَفَّتْ(are) light
مَوَٲزِينُهُۥhis scales
٨
But as for one whose scales are light,
9
فَأُمُّهُۥHis abode
هَاوِيَةٌ(will be the) Pit
٩
His refuge will be an abyss.
10
وَمَآAnd what
أَدْرَٮٰكَwill make you know
مَاwhat
هِيَهْit is
١٠
And what can make you know what that is?
11
نَارٌA Fire
حَامِيَةُۢintensely hot
١١
It is a Fire, intensely hot.
