The Rivalry in Worldly Increase
التكاثرWarns against the pursuit of worldly accumulation and rivalry that so occupies people that they lose sight of their ultimate accountability before Allah.

أَلْهَـٰكُمُDiverts you
ٱلتَّكَاثُرُthe competition to increase
١
Competition in [worldly] increase diverts you
2
حَتَّىٰUntil
زُرْتُمُyou visit
ٱلْمَقَابِرَthe graves
٢
Until you visit the graveyards.

كَلَّاNay
سَوْفَSoon
تَعْلَمُونَyou will know
٣
No! You are going to know.

ثُمَّThen
كَلَّاnay
سَوْفَSoon
تَعْلَمُونَyou will know
٤
Then, no! You are going to know.

كَلَّاNay
لَوْIf
تَعْلَمُونَyou know
عِلْمَ(with) a knowledge
ٱلْيَقِينِ(of) certainty
٥
No! If you only knew with knowledge of certainty...

لَتَرَوُنَّSurely you will see
ٱلْجَحِيمَthe Hellfire
٦
You will surely see the Hellfire.

ثُمَّThen
لَتَرَوُنَّهَاsurely you will see it
عَيْنَ(with the) eye
ٱلْيَقِينِ(of) certainty
٧
Then you will surely see it with the eye of certainty.
8
ثُمَّThen
لَتُسْــَٔلُنَّsurely you will be asked
يَوْمَئِذٍthat Day
عَنِabout
ٱلنَّعِيمِthe pleasures
٨
Then you will surely be asked that Day about pleasure.
