10
خَلَقَHe created
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِthe heavens
بِغَيْرِwithout
عَمَدٍۢpillars
تَرَوْنَهَا ۖthat you see
وَأَلْقَىٰand has cast
فِىin
ٱلْأَرْضِthe earth
رَوَٰسِىَfirm mountains
أَنlest
تَمِيدَit (might) shake
بِكُمْwith you
وَبَثَّand He dispersed
فِيهَاin it
مِنfrom
كُلِّevery

فَأَنۢبَتْنَاthen We caused to grow
فِيهَاtherein
مِنof
كُلِّevery
زَوْجٍۢkind
كَرِيمٍnoble
10

He created the heavens without pillars that you see and has cast into the earth firmly set mountains, lest it should shift with you, and dispersed therein from every creature. And We sent down rain from the sky and made grow therein [plants] of every noble kind.

11
هَـٰذَاThis
خَلْقُ(is the) creation
ٱللَّهِ(of) Allah
فَأَرُونِىSo show Me
مَاذَاwhat
خَلَقَhave created
ٱلَّذِينَthose

ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَthe wrongdoers
فِى(are) in
ضَلَـٰلٍۢerror
مُّبِينٍۢclear
11

This is the creation of Allāh. So show Me what those other than Him have created. Rather, the wrongdoers are in clear error.

12
وَلَقَدْAnd verily
ءَاتَيْنَاWe gave
لُقْمَـٰنَLuqman
ٱلْحِكْمَةَthe wisdom
أَنِthat
ٱشْكُرْBe grateful
لِلَّهِ ۚto Allah
وَمَنAnd whoever
يَشْكُرْ(is) grateful
فَإِنَّمَاthen only
يَشْكُرُhe is grateful
لِنَفْسِهِۦ ۖfor himself
وَمَنAnd whoever
كَفَرَ(is) ungrateful
فَإِنَّthen indeed
ٱللَّهَAllah
غَنِىٌّ(is) Free of need
حَمِيدٌۭPraiseworthy
12

And We had certainly given Luqmān wisdom [and said], "Be grateful to Allāh." And whoever is grateful is grateful for [the benefit of] himself. And whoever denies [His favor] - then indeed, Allāh is Free of need and Praiseworthy.

13
وَإِذْAnd when
قَالَsaid
لُقْمَـٰنُLuqman
لِٱبْنِهِۦto his son
وَهُوَwhile he
يَعِظُهُۥ(was) instructing him
يَـٰبُنَىَّO my son
لَا(Do) not
تُشْرِكْassociate partners
بِٱللَّهِ‌ۖwith Allah
إِنَّIndeed
ٱلشِّرْكَassociating partners
لَظُلْمٌ(is) surely an injustice
عَظِيمٌgreat
١٣

And [mention, O Muḥammad], when Luqmān said to his son while he was instructing him, "O my son, do not associate [anything] with Allāh. Indeed, association [with Him] is great injustice."

14
وَوَصَّيْنَاAnd We have enjoined
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ(upon) man
بِوَٰلِدَيْهِfor his parents
حَمَلَتْهُcarried him
أُمُّهُۥhis mother
وَهْنًا(in) weakness
عَلَىٰupon
وَهْنٍۢweakness
وَفِصَـٰلُهُۥand his weaning
فِى(is) in
عَامَيْنِtwo years
أَنِthat
ٱشْكُرْBe grateful
لِىto Me
وَلِوَٰلِدَيْكَand to your parents
إِلَىَّtowards Me
ٱلْمَصِيرُ(is) the destination
14

And We have enjoined upon man [care] for his parents. His mother carried him, [increasing her] in weakness upon weakness, and his weaning is in two years. Be grateful to Me and to your parents; to Me is the [final] destination.

15
وَإِنBut if
جَـٰهَدَاكَthey strive against you
عَلَىٰٓon
أَنthat
تُشْرِكَyou associate partners
بِىwith Me
مَاwhat
لَيْسَnot
لَكَyou have
بِهِۦof it
عِلْمٌۭany knowledge
فَلَاthen (do) not
تُطِعْهُمَا ۖobey both of them
وَصَاحِبْهُمَاBut accompany them
فِىin
ٱلدُّنْيَاthe world
مَعْرُوفًۭا ۖ(with) kindness
وَٱتَّبِعْand follow
سَبِيلَ(the) path
مَنْ(of him) who
أَنَابَturns
إِلَىَّ ۚto Me
ثُمَّThen
إِلَىَّtowards Me
مَرْجِعُكُمْ(is) your return
فَأُنَبِّئُكُمthen I will inform you
بِمَاof what
كُنتُمْyou used (to)
تَعْمَلُونَdo
15

But if they endeavor to make you associate with Me that of which you have no knowledge, do not obey them but accompany them in [this] world with appropriate kindness and follow the way of those who turn back to Me [in repentance]. Then to Me will be your return, and I will inform you about what you used to do.

16
يَـٰبُنَىَّO my son
إِنَّهَآIndeed it
إِنif
تَكُit be
مِثْقَالَ(the) weight
حَبَّةٍۢ(of) a grain
مِّنْof
خَرْدَلٍۢa mustard seed
فَتَكُنand it be
فِىin
صَخْرَةٍa rock
أَوْor
فِىin
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِthe heavens
أَوْor
فِىin
ٱلْأَرْضِthe earth
يَأْتِ بِهَا ٱللَّهُ ۚAllah will bring it forth
إِنَّIndeed
ٱللَّهَAllah
لَطِيفٌ(is) All-Subtle
خَبِيرٌۭAll-Aware
16

[And Luqmān said], "O my son, indeed if it [i.e., a wrong] should be the weight of a mustard seed and should be within a rock or [anywhere] in the heavens or in the earth, Allāh will bring it forth. Indeed, Allāh is Subtle and Aware.

17
يَـٰبُنَىَّO my son
أَقِمِEstablish
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَthe prayer
وَأْمُرْand enjoin
بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ[with] the right
وَٱنْهَand forbid
عَنِfrom
ٱلْمُنكَرِthe wrong
وَٱصْبِرْand be patient
عَلَىٰover
مَآwhat
أَصَابَكَ ۖbefalls you
إِنَّIndeed
ذَٰلِكَthat
مِنْ(is) of
عَزْمِ ٱلْأُمُورِthe matters requiring determination
17

O my son, establish prayer, enjoin what is right, forbid what is wrong, and be patient over what befalls you. Indeed, [all] that is of the matters [requiring] resolve.

18
وَلَاAnd (do) not
تُصَعِّرْturn
خَدَّكَyour cheek
لِلنَّاسِfrom men
وَلَاand (do) not
تَمْشِwalk
فِىin
ٱلْأَرْضِthe earth
مَرَحًا ۖexultantly
إِنَّIndeed
ٱللَّهَAllah
لَا(does) not
يُحِبُّlike
كُلَّevery
مُخْتَالٍۢself-conceited
فَخُورٍۢboaster
18

And do not turn your cheek [in contempt] toward people and do not walk through the earth exultantly. Indeed, Allāh does not like everyone self-deluded and boastful.

19
وَٱقْصِدْAnd be moderate
فِىin
مَشْيِكَyour pace
وَٱغْضُضْand lower
مِن[of]
صَوْتِكَ ۚyour voice
إِنَّIndeed
أَنكَرَ(the) harshest
ٱلْأَصْوَٰتِ(of all) sounds
لَصَوْتُ(is) surely (the) voice
ٱلْحَمِيرِ(of) the donkeys
19

And be moderate in your pace and lower your voice; indeed, the most disagreeable of sounds is the voice of donkeys."

20
أَلَمْDo not
تَرَوْا۟you see
أَنَّthat
ٱللَّهَAllah
سَخَّرَhas subjected
لَكُمto you
مَّاwhatever
فِى(is) in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِthe heavens
وَمَاand whatever
فِى(is) in
ٱلْأَرْضِthe earth
وَأَسْبَغَand amply bestowed
عَلَيْكُمْupon you
نِعَمَهُۥHis Bounties
ظَـٰهِرَةًۭapparent
وَبَاطِنَةًۭ ۗand hidden
وَمِنَBut of
ٱلنَّاسِthe people
مَن(is he) who
يُجَـٰدِلُdisputes
فِىabout
ٱللَّهِAllah
بِغَيْرِwithout
عِلْمٍۢknowledge
وَلَاand not
هُدًۭىguidance
وَلَاand not
كِتَـٰبٍۢa book
مُّنِيرٍۢenlightening
20

Do you not see that Allāh has made subject to you whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth and amply bestowed upon you His favors, [both] apparent and unapparent? But of the people is he who disputes about Allāh without knowledge or guidance or an enlightening Book [from Him].

21
وَإِذَاAnd when
قِيلَit is said
لَهُمُto them
ٱتَّبِعُوا۟Follow
مَآwhat
أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُAllah (has) revealed
قَالُوا۟they say
بَلْNay
نَتَّبِعُwe will follow
مَاwhat
وَجَدْنَاwe found
عَلَيْهِon it
ءَابَآءَنَآ ۚour forefathers
أَوَلَوْEven if
كَانَ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُShaitaan was
يَدْعُوهُمْ(to) call them
إِلَىٰto
عَذَابِ(the) punishment
ٱلسَّعِيرِ(of) the Blaze
21

And when it is said to them, "Follow what Allāh has revealed," they say, "Rather, we will follow that upon which we found our fathers." Even if Satan was inviting them to the punishment of the Blaze?

22
۞ وَمَنAnd whoever
يُسْلِمْsubmits
وَجْهَهُۥٓhis face
إِلَىto
ٱللَّهِAllah
وَهُوَwhile he
مُحْسِنٌۭ(is) a good-doer
فَقَدِthen indeed
ٱسْتَمْسَكَhe has grasped
بِٱلْعُرْوَةِthe handhold
ٱلْوُثْقَىٰ ۗthe most trustworthy
وَإِلَىAnd to
ٱللَّهِAllah
عَـٰقِبَةُ(is the) end
ٱلْأُمُورِ(of) the matters
22

And whoever submits his face [i.e., self] to Allāh while he is a doer of good - then he has grasped the most trustworthy handhold. And to Allāh will be the outcome of [all] matters.

23
وَمَنAnd whoever
كَفَرَdisbelieves
فَلَاlet not
يَحْزُنكَgrieve you
كُفْرُهُۥٓ ۚhis disbelief
إِلَيْنَاTo Us
مَرْجِعُهُمْ(is) their return
فَنُنَبِّئُهُمthen We will inform them
بِمَاof what
عَمِلُوٓا۟ ۚthey did
إِنَّIndeed
ٱللَّهَAllah
عَلِيمٌۢ(is) the All-Knower
بِذَاتِof what
ٱلصُّدُورِ(is in) the breasts
23

And whoever has disbelieved - let not his disbelief grieve you. To Us is their return, and We will inform them of what they did. Indeed, Allāh is Knowing of that within the breasts.

24
نُمَتِّعُهُمْWe grant them enjoyment
قَلِيلًۭا(for) a little
ثُمَّthen
نَضْطَرُّهُمْWe will force them
إِلَىٰto
عَذَابٍa punishment
غَلِيظٍۢsevere
24

We grant them enjoyment for a little; then We will force them to a massive punishment.

25
وَلَئِنAnd if
سَأَلْتَهُمyou ask them
مَّنْWho
خَلَقَcreated
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِthe heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضَand the earth
لَيَقُولُنَّThey will surely say
ٱللَّهُ ۚAllah
قُلِSay
ٱلْحَمْدُAll praises
لِلَّهِ ۚ(are) for Allah
بَلْBut
أَكْثَرُهُمْmost of them
لَا(do) not
يَعْلَمُونَknow
25

And if you asked them, "Who created the heavens and earth?" they would surely say, "Allāh." Say, "[All] praise is [due] to Allāh"; but most of them do not know.
