The Tidings

النبإ

Affirms Tawhid, Prophethood, and the Hereafter as three foundational truths, warning the deniers while offering hope to the believers.

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

عَمَّAbout what
يَتَسَآءَلُونَare they asking one another
١

About what are they asking one another?

2
عَنِAbout
ٱلنَّبَإِthe News
ٱلْعَظِيمِthe Great
٢

About the great news -

3
ٱلَّذِى(About) which
هُمْthey
فِيهِ(are) concerning it
مُخْتَلِفُونَ(in) disagreement
٣

That over which they are in disagreement.

كَلَّاNay
سَيَعْلَمُونَ(soon) they will know
٤

No! They are going to know.

5
ثُمَّThen
كَلَّاNay
سَيَعْلَمُونَ(soon) they will know
٥

Then, no! They are going to know.

أَلَمْHave not
نَجْعَلِWe made
ٱلْأَرْضَthe earth
مِهَـٰدًاa resting place
٦

Have We not made the earth a resting place?

7
وَٱلْجِبَالَAnd the mountains
أَوْتَادًا(as) pegs
٧

And the mountains as stakes?

8
وَخَلَقْنَـٰكُمْAnd We created you
أَزْوَٲجًا(in) pairs
٨

And We created you in pairs.

9
وَجَعَلْنَاAnd We made
نَوْمَكُمْyour sleep
سُبَاتًا(for) rest
٩

And made your sleep [a means for] rest

10
وَجَعَلْنَاAnd We made
ٱلَّيْلَthe night
لِبَاسًا(as) covering
١٠

And made the night as clothing.

11
وَجَعَلْنَاAnd We made
ٱلنَّهَارَthe day
مَعَاشًا(for) livelihood
١١

And made the day for livelihood.

12
وَبَنَيْنَاAnd We constructed
فَوْقَكُمْover you
سَبْعًۭاseven
شِدَادًۭاstrong
12

And constructed above you seven strong [heavens].

13
وَجَعَلْنَاAnd We placed
سِرَاجًۭاa lamp
وَهَّاجًۭاburning
13

And made [therein] a burning lamp

14
وَأَنزَلْنَاAnd We sent down
مِنَfrom
ٱلْمُعْصِرَٰتِthe rain clouds
مَآءًۭwater
ثَجَّاجًۭاpouring abundantly
14

And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water.

15
لِّنُخْرِجَThat We may bring forth
بِهِۦthereby
حَبًّۭاgrain
وَنَبَاتًۭاand vegetation
15

That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation.

16
وَجَنَّـٰتٍAnd gardens
أَلْفَافًا(of) thick foliage
١٦

And gardens of entwined growth.

17
إِنَّIndeed
يَوْمَ(the) Day
ٱلْفَصْلِ(of) the Judgment
كَانَis
مِيقَـٰتًاan appointed time
١٧

Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time -

18
يَوْمَ(The) Day
يُنفَخُ(in which) shall be blown
فِىin
ٱلصُّورِthe trumpet
فَتَأْتُونَand you will come forth
أَفْوَاجًا(in) crowds
١٨

The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes

19
وَفُتِحَتِAnd is opened
ٱلسَّمَآءُthe heaven
فَكَانَتْand becomes
أَبْوَٲبًاgateways
١٩

And the heaven is opened and will become gateways.

20
وَسُيِّرَتِAnd are moved
ٱلْجِبَالُthe mountains
فَكَانَتْand become
سَرَابًاa mirage
٢٠

And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage.

21
إِنَّIndeed
جَهَنَّمَHell
كَانَتْis
مِرْصَادًاlying in wait
٢١

Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait

22
لِّلطَّـٰغِينَFor the transgressors
مَـَٔـابًاa place of return
٢٢

For the transgressors, a place of return,

23
لَّـٰبِثِينَ(They will) be remaining
فِيهَآtherein
أَحْقَابًا(for) ages
٢٣

In which they will remain for ages [unending].

24
لَّاNot
يَذُوقُونَthey will taste
فِيهَاtherein
بَرْدًۭاcoolness
وَلَاand not
شَرَابًاany drink

They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink.

25
إِلَّاExcept
حَمِيمًۭاscalding water
وَغَسَّاقًۭاand purulence
25

Except scalding water and [foul] purulence -
